We Completed the Installation of a Bauxite Crushing and Screening Plant

This shot was taken during the commissioning carried out right after the installation of the bauxite crushing and screening plant was completed. The camera first scans the whole steel structure, then approaches the feed hopper and takes in close-up the bauxite blocks filtering down through the grizzly.

In the footage it can be distinguished that bauxite breaks more easily than other hard rocks and that a smooth swallowing movement, rather than bouncing, occurs at the crusher mouth. The colour and moisture of the material on the conveyor belts can be told apart by eye according to which stage of the line it left; the vibration amplitude of the screen decks is also clearly seen in the recording.

The line is followed without interruption all the way to the discharge point.

The importance of a commissioning recording lies in showing how the plant handles its first load. Belt tension, crusher setting and screen inclination settle in the first hours; the balanced flow in the video indicates that these settings were made correctly and that the plant has entered its production regime.

In materials of variable abrasiveness such as bauxite, tracking jaw plate and hammer life becomes part of the production plan. For this reason, a regular supply of wear parts behind the line is considered the second heading, as decisive as the installation itself.
