Site Visit in Afyon: GNR VSI 900 Shaping Aggregate at the End of the Line

We paid a visit to the site in Afyon to see our GNR VSI 900 vertical shaft impact crusher at work. The machine sits in the stage that follows the primary and secondary crushers and gives the grain its final form.

Nobody installs this type of crusher for heavy size reduction. A vertical rotor accelerates the feed to high speed and hurls it onto an anvil or onto a bed of stone that builds up in the rotor chamber. The particles end up rounded and well formed rather than simply broken.

That is why the VSI is placed at the very end of the line.

It is switched on whenever cubical aggregate or manufactured sand is required, and its feed is held within a tight size band. If the incoming material is not controlled, rotor parts wear quickly, and at that point the cost of producing exceeds what the product earns.

Afyon is a marble and natural stone region, which adds to the value of this stage. Leftover quarry stone and offcuts from block cutting become marketable aggregate once they pass through the shaping stage. Without it, that material would simply sit on the stockyard taking up room. Because it turns something the quarry extracts anyway into income, the investment pays for itself in a short time.
