The stock bunker is one of the least discussed parts of a line, yet one of those that most affects flow. Crushing and screening run without interruption while loading is intermittent; the bunker absorbs the difference between these two tempos.

On a line without a bunker, production remains tied to loading.

When no truck arrives the conveyor stops, and therefore the crusher stops too. Where there is intermediate stock volume, the line keeps working at its own rhythm and loading becomes an independent task.

On the sand side the bunker has one further function: the draining of washed material is completed here, so moisture content comes out more balanced than with sand taken straight to the pile.
