CM EXPO 2017 Antalya: Mobile or Stationary Plant? What We Discussed at the Fair

As one of the leading manufacturers of mobile crushing and screening plants, we met visitors at the CM EXPO Construction, Construction Equipment and Technology Fair held in Antalya from 4 to 7 October 2017.

The question we heard most at the stand was how a mobile plant differs from a stationary one. The biggest advantage a mobile plant gives a site is time. Because the whole line arrives on a single chassis, it can go into production without waiting for a concrete foundation to be poured or a long erection period, and when the quarry moves it is simply towed away without being taken apart. The feeder, crusher, screen and conveyors are delivered already linked on the same chassis, so the job on site becomes commissioning rather than installation.

With a stationary plant, the numbers work differently.

For operators who will be producing on the same site for many years, a stationary crushing and screening plant allows higher capacity and lower maintenance spending. Since a line bolted to a foundation absorbs vibration better, wear parts also need replacing less often.

In practice the decision comes down to two questions: how many more years the site will be worked, and how many tonnes per year the operation aims to produce. Once both answers are known, the plant layout, the type of crusher and the number of screen decks follow almost on their own.
