Turning Quarry Residue Into Aggregate at the Afyonkarahisar Block Marble Fair

Our stand this time is in Afyonkarahisar. We are taking part in the 2nd Afyonkarahisar International Block Marble Fair at the Afyonkarahisar International Fair, Congress & Exhibition Area (Afyonkarahisar Centre/Afyonkarahisar – Türkiye).

Organised by ALZ Grup, the event opened its doors for the first time in 2025. While most natural stone fairs put finished products in the spotlight, this one is centred on raw block marble, so quarry operators and buyers meet face to face in the same hall without intermediaries.

Yet every quarry has a second material to talk about besides the blocks it sells: residue.

Pieces that cannot be brought to block size, along with the material left over from cutting, can become saleable aggregate once they are fed into a crushing and screening line. Because marble has low abrasiveness, it breaks efficiently in an impact crusher, and the wear parts it consumes are fewer than on a line processing hard granite.

Afyonkarahisar is one of Türkiye's leading marble-producing regions, and the key question we discuss at our stand with operators who want to put their residue to use is simple: which crusher will produce which fraction?
