How Vibrating Screen and Screen Parts Work
How a vibrating screen works, explained both from the outside and through its dismantled parts: shaft, bearings, springs and screen meshes.
How a vibrating screen works is explained in this video both from the outside and through its dismantled parts. The camera first shows the movement of the screen body under load, then the pulley, shaft, bearings and screen meshes one by one.
In the images the unbalanced weights producing the elliptical motion, the vibrating shaft carrying them and the springs isolating the body from the ground are clearly observed. The inclined arrangement of the screen decks, the way the meshes are tensioned with tensioning bars, the rubber support strips and the fastening elements between the side plate and the frame are shown in close-up. The separation of the material by size from the upper deck down to the lower deck can also be followed throughout the recording.
Screening efficiency is directly linked to tension and inclination.
Its field equivalent is this: a slackened mesh surface makes the material bounce, the sharpness of separation deteriorates and mesh life gets shorter. A broken spring or displaced weights change the vibration amplitude and strain the bearings. That is why regular checking of mesh tension and lubrication of the bearings is the cheapest way to preserve screen capacity.
Once the function of the parts shown in the video is understood, capacity losses caused by the screen can be diagnosed on the spot without stopping the entire line.
