We hosted the AGÜB Aggregate Producers Association in İzmir.

We hosted members of the General Directorate of Forestry and AGÜB at the İzmir Hilton. The latest developments and innovations in the sector were discussed at the meeting.

AGÜB is the Aggregate Producers Association, founded on 12 December 2001 on the initiative of 11 companies. Based in Kadıköy, İstanbul, it works on standardisation in aggregate production and the spread of TSE-certified output, on representing the sector in legislation, and on production that respects the environment and occupational safety.

The association is also active before UEPG, the European Aggregates Association; it is a member of the Mining Platform and the Federation of Building Products Manufacturers, and publishes the magazine 'Agrega'.

The presence of the General Directorate of Forestry at the table is no coincidence.

A significant share of aggregate quarries lies within areas classed as forest; permit procedures, site rehabilitation and licence conditions are all handled directly with that institution. The technical topics discussed on the production side take shape within that framework as well — since aggregate makes up roughly 75% of concrete, meeting the standard begins at the quarry.
