The glass cullet crushing machine manufactured by General Makina Stone Crushing and Screening Plants for operation in Balikesir has been commissioned.

Glass cullet is the residual material that arises in glass production. For it to be re-melted in recycling it has to be reduced to a certain size, and that makes crushing necessary.

Glass is a material that behaves differently from stone.

Its hardness is high but so is its brittleness; it therefore breaks with little energy, yet yields a sharp-edged and abrasive product. Wear surfaces and conveyor belts have to be chosen to suit this characteristic.

Dust control is a separate heading: because the fine dust generated in glass crushing carries a respiratory risk, enclosed transfer points and a dust extraction system become part of the line. In the same way, keeping the feed opening enclosed is necessary for operator safety against glass fragments thrown out during crushing.
