General 02 Mobile Plant Keeps Producing in Snow and Cold in Erzurum

Working on a site in Erzurum, the General 02 Mobile Stone Crushing and Screening Plant continues production right through the winter with its capacity of 250-300 tonnes per hour. The plant operates in a closed-circuit configuration.

In cold weather, what halts production is usually not the machine but a site that has not been prepared for winter. At sub-zero temperatures hydraulic oil thickens, lubrication becomes more difficult and steel grows more brittle; yet all of these are known in advance and can be guarded against.

Winter preparation can be summed up under three main points.

The first is choosing hydraulic oil and lubricants suited to the cold, the second is heating the cabin and the electrical panel, and the third is arranging the transfer points so that material does not freeze there. With these measures in place, the time the line can operate during the year increases noticeably.

In regions such as Erzurum, where the working season is short, that increase is added directly to the annual output; every extra week of production shortens the time it takes for the investment to pay for itself. The maintenance programme follows the same logic: wear part replacement and major servicing are shifted to the harshest winter weeks, when production pauses. As a result, the line does not face unexpected stoppages during the season.
