Which Parts Wear in a Vibrating Feeder Bunker? Vibro Motors, Springs and Liners

In a quarry, the feeder bunker is the first piece of equipment to touch the material. Its job is to sort out the dirty run-of-mine feed coming from the face and to give the stone crusher a steady, uninterrupted flow.

Bunkers are not used only in front of the primary crusher; in crusher plants, intermediate feed bunkers with grates or stock bunkers can also be brought in to feed the secondary or tertiary crushers.

These are the parts in a bunker that need watching first:

Vibro motors. They top the list. Cleaning, separating and moving the dirty material forward all depend entirely on the vibration these motors produce. When a vibro motor fails, feeding stops, and once feeding stops the whole line can no longer run.

Bunker springs. Over time they can break, or lose their elasticity after long service. When that happens, the springs should be swapped for spares so that the bunker's vibration balance is restored.

Grate and liners. Because the feeder grate and the side wall and floor liners cause no trouble in the short term, their replacement is often put off. Yet a delayed change can lead, in the long run, to wear and perforation of the bunker body. Cracks forming in the grate also prevent the bypass mechanism from working properly.
