Architectural Building Week 2025, Sofia: the Bulgarian Market and Ballast Demand

Architectural Building Week, Bulgaria's meeting point for building and architecture, once again gave us the opportunity to talk with our visitors this year. At the fair we presented the stone crushing, screening and washing plants we build to a high standard, together with our concrete batching plants.

The event is organised by Inter Expo Center and takes place every March in Sofia, at the same venue each year. Fairs on renewable energy and on testing and certification open their doors on the same dates.

The first thing that sets Bulgaria apart from other markets is how close it is to Türkiye.

A short route speeds up both delivery and service visits; if a breakdown occurs, spare parts can reach the site within a few days.

What shapes demand is infrastructure investment. Because road and railway projects need ballast and sub-base material, a line's ability to produce coarse fractions becomes important. On top of that, the ballast specification restricts not only size but also keeps the shape of the particles within set limits.
