We Were at the 4th Open Day in Constantine: Mines and Quarries on the Agenda

Algeria's open day event reached its fourth edition this year, and we were there. The programme centres on mines, quarries and public tenders, and also looks at emerging mining technologies and where the sector is heading. The event is scheduled for 8 - 9 April 2026 at the Marriott Hotel Constantine.

Officially it is called Journées Portes Ouvertes. Alongside mines and quarries, the agenda brings cement plants and public works together under one roof.

It does not run like a classic trade fair.

Rather than a large exhibition hall, presentations and face-to-face meetings take centre stage. As a result, the people we sit down with are usually managers running a quarry or contractors putting together a bid for a public tender.

There is a reason Constantine was picked as the host city: eastern Algeria has a dense concentration of limestone quarries and cement works, so much of the region's crushing and screening need is focused right here.
