The wobbler feeder is a special feeder that feeds highly wet, clayey and sticky run-of-mine material to the primary crusher while simultaneously separating the fine, muddy fraction (pre-scalping). It eliminates the blinding problem that clogs static grizzly feeders in wet conditions, running quiet, vibration-free and with low energy consumption. Made by General Makina, it is driven by a geared motor (motor-gearbox-chain).

How it works

Material drops onto parallel rows of synchronized rotating elliptical / stepped disc shafts. The disc profile between the shafts acts as a moving grate: fine, muddy and sticky material is screened downward by the rotation of the shafts, while coarse rock is carried forward over the discs to the crusher. Because the discs rotate continuously, unlike a static grate they are self-cleaning → no pegging or blinding occurs. Rotation instead of vibration means low noise, low vibration, low energy consumption and long disc life.

Role in the plant

The wobbler feeder combines feeding ahead of the primary crusher with soil/mud separation (pre-scalping) via its stepped shafts. It is critical in high-moisture and clay conditions where grizzly feeders fail: sticky material cannot bridge the grate, preventing capacity loss and downtime. Using a bypass logic, it keeps the fine, muddy fraction away from the crusher and protects crusher efficiency.

The selection rule is clear: for dry, abrasive material choose a vibrating grizzly feeder; for wet, sticky and clayey material choose the wobbler feeder.

Complete plant solution

General Makina supplies the crushing, screening and washing line together with a concrete batching plant from a single supplier. The wobbler feeder can be engineered as one integrated line with the primary crusher, conveyor belts and washing units — one point of contact, one accountable party and a matched spare-parts chain. With manufacturing experience since 1976, we bring an engineered answer to your moisture and clay problem.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a wobbler feeder?

It is a special feeder that separates the fine, muddy fraction from wet/sticky material with rotating elliptical disc shafts while feeding without clogging. It performs both feeding and pre-scalping (soil separation) at once.

How does it differ from a grizzly feeder?

A static grizzly clogs (blinds) with wet, sticky material. The wobbler's synchronized rotating shafts continuously self-clean, so there is no clogging or loss of capacity.

Which materials is it used for?

It is used for highly wet, clayey and sticky run-of-mine material. For dry, abrasive material a vibrating grizzly feeder is more suitable.

What are its advantages?

Low energy consumption, quiet and vibration-free operation, low maintenance, long disc life and dust-free running are its main advantages.

What is the drive system and capacity?

It is driven by a geared motor (motor-gearbox-chain) with no vibration. The GWB1136 model runs at 75-600 tph with an 18.5 kW motor.
