River gravel usually carries clay, silt and organic contamination, so it is washed under high moisture to produce clean aggregate. General Makina supplies the machine set required for a gravel washing and screening operation from a single source.

Machine set for this application

Dirty feed is washed first, then separated into fractions. An integrated line uses washing & screening plants, clay and fines are scrubbed by mining washers, and sizing is done by vibrating screens.

High clay content favours a log washer / blade-type scrubber.
A hydrocyclone / sand recovery unit is added to recover fine sand.
High moisture means water management and screen aperture are planned accordingly.
