The form of mobility is chosen by ground conditions and relocation frequency. Wheeled mobility uses mobile crushing plants, compact easy transport uses portable rock crushers, and manoeuvring on rough ground uses track-mounted crushers.

If road transport is frequent, a wheeled (portable) solution is advantageous.
For in-pit movement on rough ground, a tracked chassis is preferred.
Material hardness dictates the crusher type (jaw/impact/cone).
